GEMS Lab
Experimental science is not rich science.

The series
Most science videos show someone else doing the experiment. GEMS Lab doesn't. We stopped filming ourselves because watching a demonstration quietly tells students the experiment is something other people do. Instead, every GEMS Lab video hands the experiment to you — the materials, the question, the method — and then explains the physics once you've seen it with your own hands.
Every one of the 37 experiments uses household or very low-cost materials, because the point of the series is in its name: all of us can be researchers, right here and right now.

How the three phases work
Experience the science
The video walks you through the procedure and materials. You follow along, run the experiment, and meet the concept for the first time.
Scaffold the science
A short concept explanation comes first. Then you're guided to design your own procedure, choose your own variables, and predict the result before testing it.
Build the science
You print the lab report and run the investigation on your own. The video becomes your answer key, with hints along the way — not a script.
Growth, not repetition. Each phase removes a little more of the scaffolding until the student is the scientist.

What's in every video
- Research question
- Independent and dependent variables
- Materials with quantities
- Safety and environment notes
- Hypothesis (if–then–because)
- Three controlled variables
- Step-by-step procedure
- Scientific explanation
Every video follows the same structure, so by experiment five students know how a real investigation is laid out — and by experiment thirty they can write one themselves.
